Travel to Morocco. The new thrust to further develop the tourist industry through the Vision 2010 strategy has two main objectives.
To provide adequate properties for residence and for rental, and to ensure that the correct framework is in place to ensure that visitors can easily reach Morocco. Since February 2004 Morocco has signed up to the open Skies policy to open up its airspace to allow the addition of new low-cost flight carriers, and to increase the capacity of its airports to cope with the additional demand.

Since joining the scheme a host of new airlines now service Morocco travel, including the first low cost carrier to provide cheaper tourist flights, Atlas Blue (www.atlas-blue.com/en) who are now providing daily flights from London Gatwick to Marrakech. www.Jetairfly.com, a subsidiary of Thompson, is providing regular flights through Charles de Roi in Belgium direct to Casablanca and Tangier.
Easyjet (www.easyjet.com) have also moved in providing flights from London Gatwick to Marrakech, and further airlines and schedules will be forthcoming as demand continues, and Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) also provide a service from London Luton, and from Marrakech to Barcelona.
My Travel Lite (www.mytravellite.com) operates flights to Agadir in the Atlantic coast from London Gatwick, Birmingham, and Manchester
Through the Open Skies policy Morocco is developing further routes to all major European cities to add to the already excellent service to many French airports. It has never been easier to travel to Morocco.
As part of the policy change a new pricing structure has been developed to reduce handling charges, airport taxes and operating licences to pave the way for flight carriers to be able to provide increasingly profitable routes to Casablanca, Agadir and Marrakech.
Since adopting the new policy, international air traffic to Morocco has increased by 16% in 2004, and by 21% in 2005 with volume rising to over 2 million air travelers.
Many visitors opt to travel over to Morocco from Spain, flying to the Spanish enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta on the Mediterranean coast. There are many flights from all major Spanish airports operating on a daily basis.
The largest airports in Morocco are Agadi (AGA), Casablanca (CMN) (Mohammed VI), Tangier (TNG), Fez (FEZ), Marrakech (RAK) and Rabat-Salé (RBA).
Morocco has great climatic conditions, and is easily reachable by sea by the ferry services operated from Gibraltar and Spain. The most common routes are from Tarifa and Algeciras in the Cadiz province, or from Almeria via Melilla. Using the Hydrofoil from Algeciras to Tangier will take only 30 minutes. The car ferry services from Spain can be booked at www.ferrimaroc.com and www.transmediterranea.com
There is even a proposed tunnel to the Costa del Sol in Spain -Travel to Morocco. |
