Locations for Moroccan Property Investment

Property investments in and around Tangier present a good option, with excellent transport links to mainland Europe by fast ferry and hydrofoil, enabling purchasers to visit friends and family living on the Costa del Sol and Gibraltar with ease. The open Skies policy, to which Morocco has signed, is further opening up the country to more and more low-cost flight companies. Many operators are already using Tangier as a destination, and the planned redevelopment of many regional airports in Morocco will make the country much more accessible to visiting tourists from all over the world.

In fact when it comes to links to Europe, there is none grander than the planned tunnel which will join Africa to Europe again after millions of years of geographical separation. After twenty or so years in the planning, this is now becoming a reality with major political steps now undertaken which should see the commencement of the tunnel start in the 12 months.

Traditionally the investors and second homers have headed to the Atlantic coastline, where the where the scenery is at its best, and the beaches are untouched. As a long term strategy this is a solid opportunity. The area is unspoilt and beautiful and as the North continues to develop further, should send those looking for a more peaceful setting to head further south.

In addition to Tangier, there is Tetouan on the Mediterranean coast and Casablanca on the Atlantic edge, which are popular destinations for tourism and excellent locations to cater to the buy to let holiday market. The close proximity and excellent transport links to Europe has seen these areas boom. As cosmopolitan and bustling as Tangier is, some feel that it has lost its Moroccan charm and is rapidly becoming a city that could be located anywhere in the world. This is certainly due to the close proximity to mainland Europe, as visitors in their millions travel across the straights from Gibraltar, Algeciras and Tarifa seeking exotic day trips to Africa. There is still a market here, with many tourists visiting for only a few days, there is still plenty of demand for quality accommodation.

As an up and coming location for Investment, Marrakech is becoming a highly sought location to purchase. Most tourists head here at some point during their trip to sample the tastes of Morocco, the exotic sights and sounds of the Souk markets and experience the African, French, and Spanish influences.

Investors wishing to cater golf market will be spoilt for choice, with the best of the country’s golf courses located in and around the city. Tour operators are starting to provide golfing breaks to Morocco, and Marrakech provides the most choice and will certainly attract the lion’s share of golfers to Morocco.
